Our Kitchener Restorative Dentistry Services
Restorative dentistry services include various treatments that are aimed at preserving dental health and function, relieving discomfort, and restoring teeth that have been damaged or compromised. We are proud to offer comprehensive services to meet the needs of your entire family.
Root Canals
Root canal treatments are needed when a tooth’s dental pulp, which is its nerve and blood supply, has a bacterial infection. This results in sensitivity, severe pain, abscesses, and other issues.
A root canal procedure prevents the spread of infection, saves the tooth, and relieves the severe pain. Keeping a natural tooth is almost always better for your oral health. A root canal procedure can save a tooth, and prevents the need for missing tooth solutions such as dental bridges or dental implants.
Procedure
Your dentist administers a local anesthetic, and then creates a tiny opening in the tooth to access the pulp chamber. The infected or damaged pulp tissue is removed, and the canal area is cleaned, disinfected, and potentially shaped. A filling material is used to seal the area and prevent reinfection, and a dental crown is placed to strengthen and support the tooth.
Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and onlays are a cross between fillings and crowns, and are used on molars. They address issues like moderate tooth decay or fractures and damage that, while not extensive enough for a crown, require a more robust solution than traditional fillings. Inlays fit within the tooth’s cusps, or points, while onlays cover one or more cusps.
Procedure
The procedure involves removing any decayed or damaged portions of the tooth, then taking an impression to create your customized inlay or onlay which is bonded to your tooth with dental cement at a second appointment.
Cosmetic Dental Treatments
For patients who are concerned about the appearance of their smile when restorative dentistry work is required, we provide cosmetic dental treatments, such as porcelain veneers, cosmetic dental crowns, teeth whitening, and more. We also offer dental implants, a cosmetic treatment for missing teeth.
Solutions for Missing Teeth
Dental bridges are effective solutions for individuals with one or more missing teeth. Bridges anchor false teeth onto the teeth surrounding a gap; the bridge is affixed to crowns that are placed on the adjacent teeth or onto dental implants.
A dental bridge fills your gap and prevents other teeth from shifting into the gap, becoming loose and falling out.

A dental bridge fills your gap and prevents other teeth from shifting into the gap, becoming loose and falling out.
Procedure
The abutment teeth on either side of the gap are fitted for crowns, or in the case of an implant-supported bridge, dental implants are placed first. An impression is taken, so a custom bridge can be made. Once the bridge is ready, it is carefully fitted and cemented into place via crowns, or attached to your dental implants.
White Dentures
Dentures replace missing teeth, helping to maintain your facial structure and make it easier to eat and speak again. Partial dentures or complete dentures are available to meet your needs.
Procedure
Impressions of the gums are taken to create custom dentures that fit comfortably and securely. You will receive temporary dentures while waiting for your permanent ones to be made. Once your custom dentures are ready, they are adjusted for a proper fit and bite alignment.
